Atari Jaguar music ripping? How? by Droolie at 3:17 AM EDT on August 2, 2008
Hey there!

I can't find this anywhere, and I thought you guys might know. So, do you know how to rip music from Atari Jaguar games? I'd especially like to rip the music from Rayman 1, the Jaguar version. I don't expect any of you to know this, though.

Thanks in advance,
Droolie. ;)

To the best of my knowledge (though feel free to correct me), there is no format similar to NSF, etc. for Jaguar. At the moment, your only option is to make line-in recordings from the game yourself. Maybe if there's enough demand, someone will create JSF or something. Sorry to be the one to break it to you.

I think a lot of Jaguar titles used MOD tracker formats. Someone ripped the Tempest 2000 mods out of that game. Might be worth using any MOD ripping tools on Jaguar ROMs to see what turns up (although I think the best ripping tools are Amiga-only).

Can you give me the names of any MOD ripping tools?
I can't seem to find any... must be because I'm extremely tired. :(

You can start with this tool:

You know, it's funny, Tempest 2000 really has uncompressed Protracker mods.
Did check Zool 2 as well, and it uses Protracker as well (RNC compressed, but there are decompressors for that).

But that's probably just a lucky find, tried Flashback and Iron Soldier, no dice there.

You can get Zool 2's modules at exotica. Good soundtrack, presuming the Atari music is the same as Amiga.

Sadly, Prowizard wasn't able to get any mods from Rayman for Jaguar. :|

Completely true. :)

So, does anybody have any other ideas?

You can try the usual ripping tools: WinRipper, Dragon Unpacker, GAP (Game Audio Player).
