VGMTrans N64? by Dutchie at 10:56 AM EDT on May 25, 2011
Hello, this is my first post on this forum.

So I have done many research on the N64 music, and always wanted to extract the sequences and soundbanks to use them in FL studio.

Now before people are going to send me to other forums, dont do it, cause if there was a forum post about this, I wouldn't have posted this message.

I KNOW not all N64 music is a sequence with the samples somewhere in the ROM image, and I dont really bother if thats thrue or not.

The only game i want to extract the music from is Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros.

Now Mario Kart 64 is my main target. Mainly because I'am 100% sure it uses a sequence with samples. I don't know if Super Smash Bros. does this too, but as i said before, Mario kart 64 is the game i care about the most.

I have heard about VGMTrans wich works with N64 roms, But this is pretty impossible to find, if anyone can tell me where to get it or if anyone can send it me, I will give you something back.

I have hear about SRip, N64 soundtool and others, they worked with ripping Mario Kart 64 samples, but none of them could extract ANYTHING from Super Smash Bros.

So if someone could send me the VGMTrans compatible with N64 roms, I will be very happy if I could get Mario Kart 64's sequences as Midi's.

You might want to check out SubDrag's new tool, the INI at least claims it works for extracting samples from Smash Bros. Forum thread is here.

And sorry about VGMTrans, part of why it's hard to find is the author asked for it not to be shared. I feel like a real tool for respecting that, but there it is. Tonight I'll run Super Smash Bros. through it and post anything it manages to extract.

Thank you for at least taking the time to read it.
The n64soundlisttool, well i have no idea how it works.
Is there any reason the author didnt want VGMTrans to be spread?

Good to heard that you'll try to rip some stuff off SSB. ehm, can you try Mario Kart 64 aswell?

Well, if you are my key to get the stuff from MK64 and SSB, I'll do something for you, if you'd like.

You can input this into Srip for Super Smash Bros 64 and it will extract all the instruments from the game:
/c 0xB4E5C0 /t 0xB54CE0

Other then that, SubDrugs n64soundtool is a good alternate.

Here you go, Smash Bros MIDI. Make of it what you will. Got no results for Mario Kart 64.

Thank you for making sharing the midi's, now i hhave problems with the instruments ¬_¬

can VGMTrans extract the samples, or can it make a DLS or sf2? Srip does not rip the samples, even if i put in the right codes.

VGMTrans doesn't do samples for N64.
The other ctl/tbl pair in Smash Bros, according to N64SoundListToolUpdated's INI, would be:
/c 0xC6B650 /t C7B1F0
Maybe that will have what you're looking for.

Most likely because you are not using the USA version of the game. You can grab the samples along with an incomplete .sf2 in the zip below:
