The Official DSP Distribution Thread by marioman at 6:30 AM EST on November 22, 2005
Since hcs wants the in_dsp thread to only contain comments about the plugin and the DSP forum has been taken down, I figured that I better start this.

I guess I didn't really understand how big DSPs are. I just got the Star Fox Assault soundtrack (big thanks to Mouser X), and the whole thing spans a whopping 188 MB. When you guys said that the DSPs were big, I thought that you meant as bug as a GYM log. However, the STA DSPs are almost as big as my WHOLE GYM collection.

In light if this "significant" discovery. (I guess I was asleep when you guys were discussing file size.) I am going to revise my DSP wishlist, not only to save my HD space, but also to make your guys lives easier. Here is my revised list:

Super Monkey Ball (Entire soundtrack)
Super Monkey Ball 2 (Entire soundtrack)
Luigi's Mansion (E. Gadd's Lab and Gameboy Horror Themes Only)

I may ask for more later, but this is all for now. The list mostly consists of soundtracks that I already have on low-quality MP3, but I would like to get them in a higher-quality format. (ie. No sound effects in the music.)

Thanks for your help. I hope to get these soon.

Anyone else interested in sending/receiving DSPs feel free to post here - this isn't my personal thread.

Yes, I saw it. The situation is that hcs wanted discussions about which DSP sets to distribute in a thread other than the current in_dsp thread. (He wants the in_dsp thread to be reserved for plugin discussion only.) So, here is the place to discuss such things.

Since we've got a distribution thread now, this would be a good place to point out that there's now a torrent up for the Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut ADXs.

For those wondering, I enjoyed the Sonic Adventure ADXs more than the Sonic Adventure 2 ones. Both were good though. Out of those available, I think I like Star Fox: Assualt the most. However, Metroid Prime, Sonic Adventure DX, and Super Smash Brothers Melee about tie. All the others are pretty good, but it's hard to rank them because they're all so close.

On a side note, I'd like some opinions on this. Though I don't have them, and most likely won't be getting them soon, I'm considering torrenting the Sonic Heroes ADX files. But, as was pointed out, the GC version (the one I have easiest access to) is 32hz, whereas the Xbox version is 48hz. I assume the PS2 would be the same as the Xbox version, so if I ripped the higher quality files, I'd do it from the PS2 version. The quesstion though, is whether you'd prefer larger, higher quality files (I don't know their size, but I'm guessing it would be close, or in excess of, 500mb), or smaller, 32hz files. One is easier to get, and distribute, and store. The other is bigger, but sounds better (though by how much I don't know). What are you're thoughts? Thanks in advance for any input you may have. Mouser X over and out.

2 new torrents up. This time, both from Shadow the Hedgehog for the Gamecube. While some might complain that the GC version has lower quality audio, I don't think that's the case for this game. According to the tools I used, the ADX files are 48hz. Also, the reason there's 2 torrents is because I figured I should give people a choice. The bigger one contains the music (as it says) and the smaller one contains voice overs with slight background music and noise to them.

If you look at the descriptions of the torrents, you'll notice that some of the files don't play properly. Sorry about that, but I did test them, and they are valid (and will playback with Cinepak). So, anyway, enjoy! Mouser X over and out.

I recently got the audio files from Sonic Heroes for the Gamecube. The ADX files for it total 216mb. However, it's 32khz, as opposed to 48khz (which I'm pretty sure the PS2 has, based on what was said about the Xbox version). The question I have is, should I just torrent it as is, or should I look for the 48khz files? Keep in mind that I'm not even sure I can get the game to rip it, and that they'll be noticeably bigger (I'm guessing it will add somewhat less than 200mb onto the current size. Keep in mind that is a guess, so it might be more, or even less).

Anyway, your input on this would be nice. I hope to be able to seed it soon, so let me know your preferance. Seed now at 32khz, or (possibly?) seed later at 48khz and increased file size? Thanks in advance for anything you may have to add.

[EDIT]

OH YAH!!! I just finished downloading Fire Emblem: (Whatever the subtitle is...) for the GC, and it uses STMs, like Paper Mario 2 did. So, after renaming them to DSP, they work GREAT!!! Here's an interesting note. If you push ALT+3 after selecting the song in Winamp's playlist, it says "Paper Mario 2 (STM) header type." Anyway, I'll be starting a torrent soon, but I might go to bed first... Mouser X over and out.

Smaller is better. :)

I've uploaded, and am seeding, torrents for Sonic Heroes (GC ADX), and Sonic GEMs. Please help these torrents out. As for the Shadow torrent, I'm sorry it's not seeding well. On the positive side, I've been able to get someone else to help seed. Hopefully, all goes well with that. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy! Mouser X over and out.

I have the ADX files from Sonic Heroes PC. Unfortunately, they seem to be the same lo-quality ADXes as the GCN version had.

Sorry. =/
