Extracting FFX files by Nisto at 7:13 PM EST on February 11, 2014
How do I extract/decompress the files from Final Fantasy X? I used yaz0r's ffxdumper tool but it's only outputting .ffb files, which I assume are only models?! I'm interested in getting the sound files (even if they've been ripped to PSF2 already). In case those ffbs are not just models, how do I know what's music in these .ffb files? And is there a tool to properly rip from them.. ?
Psound can extract sounds from Ps2(and Ps3) games. It might be possible to use that to get some sounds from the game. "Might" because some sounds could be missed altogether. Another way would be to encode the suspected file into a genh file(set to sony adpcm) and convert that to wav.
I'm not planning on reripping to PSF2. I will provide the streams if I can even manage to extract the sound-related stuff from these files. So.. doing this is not like, common knowledge? You'd expect a lot of people would know how with such a popular/mainstream game.
@Kirishima, do you mean I should pass the ffb files to PSound, or the original files from the FFX disc? Something needs to be decompressed first it seems.. But I have no idea what or with which tool, ffxdumper seems useless for this case. How were the files in the psf2s extracted?!
Just take the file and drag it into psound. If it has audio that psound can read (sony adpcm and adx for some reason), then you can play back the files or convert them. I'd explain better, but I keep forgetting words.
Nope and nope, they both don't see anything in these .ffb files (nor the original files from the disc)... And I'm trying to decompress/extract all files here, not just necessarily convert audio to WAV... EDIT: Okay, scanning the _image_ file with PSound works, but _converting_ files is not really what I'm out for..
Okay, in ToolExtract I just noticed these ffbs really are indeed just models. What the hell. No one knows how to decompress the other files from FFX?!
