The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess-fix field.bms (BETA music) by robotortoise at 5:08 AM EST on November 21, 2014
My friend's trying to load field.bms in-game. It's not loading the correct bank for field.bms, which is the beta Twilight Princess field music, according to the midi rip we have of it. It'll load the music, but with the wrong instruments.

Does anyone have any ideas?

For reference, my friend's replacing one bms file with another. Apparently the sound bank is linked to the map, not the bms.

(Oh, and sorry for re-posting this. I realized the previous title was awful.)

How to play BMS files?

Convert the soundbank to soundfont if possible.

It was possible with pokemon black2/white2, unsure how this differs.

Robotortoise said he was trying to play the BMS file in-game, not on the computer.

Yeah, I can load the converted MIDI in my computer, but I don't have the correct soundfonts so it sounds like crap.

Even if you did, the MIDI driver idiosyncracies might mean it doesn't sound how it would in-game (things like vibrato/pitch LFO speed or depth are usually ignored, for instance), so it's still best to use the game's own sound driver if possible, then you have a firmer guarantee that the driver is interpreting all the messages correctly.
