BRSAR MIDI and Soundbank Extraction? by ArcticJaguar725 at 2:28 AM EDT on May 6, 2016
Has still nobody been able to figure this out? I'm very eager to mess around with sequenced Wii games, particularly Animal Crossing: City Folk. It would be quite an advancement to the community if somebody were capable of pulling this off.

Not as far as I'm aware. You can extract the sounds using VGMToolbox's RWAV split tool, but it doesn't result in named files.

Hmmm, that is a disappointment. After doing my research, I finally found a really strange way in which I can actually play back these files through Dolphin. I have started an extensive project and am trying to record various MIDI sequences from AC:CF and plan on converting them to BRSTM files. As far as I'm aware, there aren't any K.K. Slider BRSTMs, there are no rain/snow recordings for outdoor tracks, and the left and right channels for the normal outdoor tracks that do exist are flipped. Also, some of the existent tracks (ex. Nook's Cranny) have unbearable noise in the background, so I really have an urge to fix these for some reason, even if it is going to take forever.

As far as I've been told by various people, the stuff in Wii brsar's are mostly all streamed I believe. I wish there was some way to rip sequences from them if there were any...can midis be converted to brstm though? That would be pretty neat indeed!

Edit: better yet can we convert brstm to midi? That would be fantastic! Then again we can dream can't we? Lol.

The problem here is that BRSTMs are streamed files, so the likelihood that we would be successful converting a BRSTM to a MIDI are about as likely as somebody finding a way to accurately convert an MP3 to a MIDI (in other words, don't get your hopes up). However, converting a MIDI to a BRSTM is definitely possible as long as you have the correct soundbank to go along with it. Also, I know for a fact that Animal Crossing: City Folk has everything sequenced in the BRSAR, so it could be converted to a bunch of MIDI files, but nobody has seemed to master it yet, unfortunately. There are, however, some games that do in fact have streams included in the BRSAR as far as I know.
