Just in case anyone is interested, I am about 90% sure that track 6 of the OoS GBS is in the wrong file. The track appears to only be played in OoA.

A GBS is generally a rip of all the music in a game. When a track is ripped that doesn't normally appear in the game, it's usually considered a good thing. In this case, I disagree with you, because I played OOA recently, and don't recall this music playing. If you can find it in OOA, give me a battery save file with info, and I can check it against the GBS file.

I understand that there may be unused music in a GBS file, but this seems to be a case where a track is missing from one rip but present in another.

I haven't played the game at all, so I may be a little uninformed. I have found two music recordings for OoA/S, and they both say that the track is played when your raft is caught/sunk in the Sea of Storms. (Before Crescent Island.) I also watched a speedrun for OoS, and I could not find it there.

If you could please confirm/deny that the song is played in that particular place in OoA, I would appreciate it. It would be a shame to have an inaccuracy in a Zelda music file.

I can't get that newer version of NEZplug to work at all. I installed the redistributable package and everything, and Winamp still doesn't recognize the plugin.
by marioman at 7:51 AM EDT on June 27, 2007
Did you install the VC++ SP1 package? That may be the problem.
by Warpstar at 7:46 PM EDT on June 27, 2007
I guess that was it. The link to the package on ugetab's page was leading somewhere else earlier today, but it went to the right one just now.

And wow, this version of NEZplug does work much better. The Pokemon Crystal GBS, for example, sounds a lot more accurate than it did before. A lot of the problems with individual channels' volume levels seem to be fixed, or at least better than before (the noise channel always seemed to be too loud, and a bunch had barely audible melodies).

I'd tried directly linking to microsoft download pages before, and it always complained because it didn't send a microsoft-based referrer, and wouldn't show the page's contents. After realizing that noting the download name twice wouldn't be enough to prevent the SP1/Non-SP1 download issue, I tried direct linking again. Seems like it worked.

Hey Ugetab, did you ever find out about the OoA issue? I cannot get you a save for the area where the music is supposedly played, but it is near the beginning and shouldn't be too hard to get to.

Just to reiterate, all sources that I have found say that track 6 of the OoS GBS is actually played when your raft is caught in the Sea of Storms in OoA. It happens between Level 2 and Level 3.

I will continue to look for more information on the situation. If you figure anything out, please let us know. Thanks.

The only music that plays between setting sail on the raft, and reaching the island is the OOA GBS's track 32. You get stuck in a similar place in OOA and OOS, mainly a portion of sea surrounded by whirlpools.

OK thanks. Then that means that there are quite a few MP3 rips floating around that have the wrong tags.

I will continue to try to figure out where the music is played. At least I feel better about the track being in the OoS rip.

Thank you for your help.
