Porting notsofatso to foobar2k could be serious business, but I suppose that could be a to-do.

Also to correct whoever thinks it isn't, the "tone setting" only changes the tone set and not the emulator. The old fmopl code is gone and there is no way in hell I'm putting it back in.

I just took a look at the foobar2000 SDK and it is unbelievably stupid. VC is somewhat shitty compiling it in release mode so I don't really know whether I should bother with it or not.

NEZPlug++ v0.9.4.8 + 2 + 11 released. It supposedly fixes some more GBS issues.

The person updating this plugin deserves some type of medal for the advancements that he has made.

wow. I knew people from 2ch were perusing this board, but I never expected anything to come of discussing NEZPlug++ here. Seems the DBZ track I've been testing suddenly got fixed in the +11 release. I hope this sort of progress continues, as that would leave me with dependable GBS players for ripping with and for playback. All the stuff that's been different between 1 player and another seem to be getting resolved or explained.

I have some ideas for the GBS2GB stuff now, so I'll probably work on that momentarily. Primarily, I'd like to try a universal fix along the lines of HM2, which would remove the need for a NOP after the HALT. With some luck, it would remove any trace of that HALT byte-jump error in converted GBSs, without any need to modify the play routines.

From what I can decipher from Google's translation of the changelog, this version includes:
GBS: Sound quality of the noise channel is improved; fix of the problem with track 20 of DBZ; other small corrections (not specified)
Also some improvements to the NSF side of things: Noise channel is improved here as well, and there's some kind of addition regarding the Namco106 expansion.

well hallo thar

I was able to compile foobar's example plugin on Friday night but I cannot make any progress until tomorrow evening, as I am currently visiting relatives in that crazy French-Canadian place.

Anyways, besides foobar2000 support, I will end up fixing the VRC7 sound issues once and for all. I am going to be abandoning toneset adjustments for all future builds, as I am tired of getting nowhere with this. If anyone wants to make a toneset go right ahead as the next build will include a tone set adjustment utility.

Features planned for the next build:
- VRC7 user tone settings (see above)
- Debugging features
- Updater utility so I don't need to post here every time I update the plugin

Yeah, OffGao is doing an incredible job with the NEZPlug++ updates. I was pratically in tears of joy when he added ADPCM support to HES's. And all the GBS fixes he's doing is making NEZPlug++ the definitive GBS player - I'm pretty sure it's the only one that plays Prehistorik Man correctly.

One thing that would be cool to have is an option to force Game Boy Color mode on GBR files (yeah, GBR). One thing that GBR has that GBS doesn't is that both vsync and timer interrupts can be used simultaneously, which helps with games that use timed code to send raw samples through the wave channel. One game that can't be covered by either of the two formats currently is Little Nicky (Game Boy Color game that does the raw sample thing) and this can be easily rectified by a GBC flag in the user options.

Other games that send raw samples are Perfect Dark GBC
Gauntlet 2 - GB
If i remember correctly there are a few others I'll try to remember.
