Has there been any progress on the MDSF format for ripped Sega Genesis audio? I'd love to try it out sometime.

Also, can someone rip the GSFs to the GBA Shining Force?

MDSF ripped format hasn't been worked on in ages because I was not willing to deal with an emulation core written in assembly in order to optimize crap.

And I might consider ripping Shining Force, but this isn't the right thread for that kind of crap.

By the way, get on irc.

@Knurek: The new version of NEZPlug works great. Still no config box yet. (It is bound to happen one day.) Thanks for the info.

@Richter X: I'm waiting for progress on MDSF too. (And 2SF...) I guess UF will finally get around to finishing it after he gets done with his NotSoFatso project.

--EDIT--

NEZPlug v0.9.4.8 +2 +14.1 released. Must be a small fix.

this guy releases too many versions of his software, can't he just release all the fixes and stuff all at once?

that being said, i'll be releasing a notsofatso version soon. foobar2000 support is pretty much off the books, because foobar2000 sucks and i hate it. it'll include no major changes, just small fixes in emu2413.

Release early, release often.

Couldn't you have just released those emu2413 fixes in your original release?

At least when Offgao releases a new version he actually fixes a major bug or adds a feature. I could ask the same question about any other software manufacturer.

Why wasn't Mac OSX Apple's first operating system? Couldn't they just have included all of their OSX upgrades in their original OS? Why didn't Bill Gates originally release Windows instead of fooling with DOS? Why couldn't Nintendo have released the Wii in the 1980s and just skipped the NES, SNES, N64, GC, etc?

Software is a continual process of perfecting what you already have. It is similar to sculpture - the project must be started somewhere and then honed into a masterpiece.

OK, enough rant.

Yeah, I put in the wrong value for bank number in the Little Nicky GBR. Doesn't really matter much, though, since that was just a preliminary, unoptimized rip. Here's an updated one with unused banks removed:

http://snesmusic.org/hoot/kingshriek/LittleNicky.7z (haven't yet gotten to updating the page to reflect this)

@anewuser: I'm using GBR for this particular rip because the game's sound engine uses both vsync and timer interrupts simultaneously. GBS only allows use of one or the other.

The notsofatso project is suspended until further notice. Please use NEZplug++ for now, as I have issues to fix with the builds before any release is made.
by marioman at 7:55 PM EDT on October 25, 2007
Does this mean that 2SF or MDSF will now get some attention?

--EDIT--

In other news, NEZPlug++ v0.9.4.8 + 2 + 15 has been released. It has issues with some GBS files though.
