Does someone already tried to ripped MGS psx music to psf or midi? by TheFuryFox at 11:31 AM EDT on October 3, 2016
Hello,

Just as title say, I am able to get the sounds with psound in STAGE file and VGMtoolbox psf data finder
doesn't find anything. Does someone already made a progress with this game?

what?

mgs psx psf? I was so sure that game had only streamed music, psf would mean sequenced music. I mean idk can be, but what makes you think this has psf and midi? I never personally managed to tackle the stage files, what kind of process did you do?

this is very interesting if indeed this has sequenced music.

Yes it is sequenced as I can get samples with psound
so it's classical psx sounds. As far as I am not a specalist I have not find sequences adsr etc may be it is hardcoded or custom format.
I can record midi or see each channels with a epsxe plugin.

Yeah, it's a custom format. The only person I remember making some progress with it was Nisto, but he's probably busy with other things to continue with researching the game's driver and formats.

So I've managed to find this:
https://github.com/neko68k/MGSDIRTool

But the problem is that we need someone to compile it. Can any experienced compiler join in?

EDIT: Okay, no need to chime in. I already compiled for myself by installing MinGW(all packages) and adding its installation folder to the PATH environment variable. Keep in mind that the .DIR file must be on the same folder as the tool.
