Any progress?

If you want something sequenced then go, search for the soundsamples for each instrument, if we have that then you should start asking hcs...

btw fifthed... ^^"

Edit: I did it again! Damn, why do I only look at the first side of a thread... [My post is a response to the first site of the thread]

And again an edit, I read parts of the thread, an I have to say that if you use timidity and a sf2 then we could emulate anything as long we have samples and a working gc to midi converter, but there the problem starts, I highly doubt that we can get the first part working, a general sf2 (therefore we need wav or something similar) can only be generated when we have a general set that every game uses, that means, if we have no general Soundfont we would need for every game a seperate one, that would be great, but nobody knows the way to make them...

(I know long thread, bad english, but I guess you know what I mean...)

Looks like no further progress was made regarding .samp files... I just encountered one of these with GameCube WarioWare. I've uploaded the sound file sets, which includes the .samp as well as a .bin file that should have the soundsamples in it.

Anyway, not sure if this is something anyone is interested in tackling, but it might help solve problems with other .samp files.

Personally, I'd love a full WarioWare rip, but well we'll have to wait.
Interestingly, there is that thingy that furry bob did with that Super Mario Sunshine rip where he managed to get EVERY song used in the game, bar cutscenes. EVEN unused things like a Yoshi version of Noki Bay.
.samp file update?? by dy32light at 8:00 AM EST on December 16, 2013
(My apologies if this huge bump bothers anyone, but..)

I'd really like to know: has ANY progress been made in terms of actually decoding .samp files over the last couple of years??

No matter how much I google, I can't seem to find any kind of helpful answer, so I figured I'd ask about this directly, as you guys seem to really know what's up with these sorts of things :P

p.s. if i seem new to this forum that's because I am. so hello!

Well, now there is a great GameCube emulator as opposed to when this thread was made and Dolphin's capabilities were much fewer. Its audio emulation is very good (I've reported some issues/inaccuracies on their forum but they're relatively small, especially when you don't already know what to look for) and does an excellent job on most games, including ones with sequenced music.

As for putting that progress towards a GameCube/Wii sequenced sound format, to my knowledge there has been no attempt. Dolphin is open source though so a good chunk of the necessary work should already be done if it can be adapted, although I'm not a programmer so I don't actually know what all that would entail.

I feel like bumping this topic because it is related: The song data of Panel de Pon GC is inside PANEPON.plf. It's full of symbols, and with IDA Pro you can easily find the song table and the song data.

But what about audiorom.img from Animal Crossing?
I'm eager to upload a sample of it if anyone wants it.
