Can we play Crystal Chronicles' music similar to how we can with Mother 3? by Uikri at 9:35 AM EDT on August 14, 2015
For Mother 3, we are able to take the MIDIs and play them with the game's soundfont. Are we able to play Final Fantasy: Crystal Chroicles' music in this same manner, and if so, is there any way to have them loop like we can with most other game music formats? Additionally, is there a download link for the MIDIs, or whatever file format the music is in, anywhere?

Maybe. The sequences though are in the standard SQEX seq format used in their PS2 games which some people may be familiar with since PSF2s were made from them. The samples on the hand are not the same like PS2 where in this case they're encoded in Nintendo's DSP format whereas PS2 uses Sony ADPCM. Probably not impossible but perhaps lots of work involved into getting it moving along.

I can provide what are likely the sound files from the game if anyone wants to try to do something with them. I would really like to see something done with the music from this game, the official soundtrack, while complete, just doesn't cut it imo.

I made a thread once about it, and I believe someone said they had managed to get some progress done using some wizardry in PSFlab, but didn't go into detail iirc.

@bxaimc Well, it's disappointing that it's not that simple. It and Zone of the Enders 1 & 2 are two of the most elusive soundtracks out there.

@Frozyn That would be cool. I personally couldn't do anything with 'em, but maybe someone else could?

Here are the files (first time using Mega, so mention if it doesn't work):

I included all files in the "sound" folder, minus the stream folder (which only contains particular songs, and nothing to do with the MIDIs).

The "music" folder contains a lot of different files that seem to be the game's MIDI stuff (you can even open them up in PSFlab, and it'll recognise most of thing in the MIDI).

The "Wave" folder contains files that seem to point towards the sample's names (.wi files), and what is presumably the samples themselves (.wd files).

The "SE" folder has what I assume are sound effects, but I thought I'd include it just to be sure.

I'm not super knowledgeable on the DSP format or the ADPCM format, but I don't think its far out of the realm of possibility that you'd be able to somehow extract and convert the samples into the ADPCM format, or whatever, and do some BS to get them to work in PSFlab/as PSF2 files.

A (perhaps easier) way could also be to just figure out how to convert/extract the samples from the .wd files, and just convert the .bgm MIDI files into regular MIDI files, and just create a sound font using the extracted samples.

Here is a past thread that I mentioned some stuff from earlier

It makes me laugh that, more than a decade ago this game was released, and there are still people that want a native soundtrack to this game. I might read up a it on some of the different sound formats, and see if there's anything I can do. This game's music certainly is a bit of a bitch to get working.
