Megaman X music - Unknownfile rip by DChronos at 6:13 PM EDT on June 20, 2008
Hey, I came over here after discovering there was a PSF2 set ripped for Megaman X7, and subsequently found out about a Megaman X8 and Megaman X: command Mission rip from your list at this site.

I know there is an X7 rip, as it was posted long ago in this thread:
Original posting

Also, someone reposted in the same thread asking for it, and it was suggested he come here and ask unknownfile for it (on the last page). I checked out the stream music rips found in another thread, and was wondering about re-uploading the X7 to megaupload or rapidshare or something, and if you got X8 and Command Mission, stick em in the same file and send 'em all over, if you could.

One other question about this, too, it's labeled as PSF2 as far as I can tell, but if it's streamed, does it still play like normal on the HE plugin, or does it require the experimental in_cube to play because it's streamed?

Last, if someone would be willing to send those one time, and someone else comes along asking, I wouldn't mind too much re-uploading them once more for anyone else that asks.

Please and thanks, hope to get ahold of X7 at least! And thanks to all here that spend time creating these rips and plugins, too!

if it has the .PSF2 extension, sure it can be played by HE, that's why it is called PSF2 ;o)

but streamed psf2's are outdatet!

And iirc, MMX8 uses ADX...

Yeah, the psf2 rip is around and plays normally in HE. Although, you can play the ADS files on MMX7 straight off the disc using in_cube or whatever so that pretty much defeats the entire purpose.

Yeah, except I don't got the disk, so that defeats that solution. That's why I'm asking for the already ripped set in the first place.

So, where would I find it, because google turns up a grand total of 5 results, and only 1 relates X7 with psf2, which is what I pointed out. It's vanished in the 2.5 years since it was posted and noone ever put it up as a psf set.

I have one other question about playing music right off a disk, there is one I'd like to use, Wild Arms 3, it's streamed, too, and if I wanted to use in_cube to play that off its disk, where do you have to go on the disk to even find the music?

Oh, and for that matter, I also do got Command Mission, and on both, I tried to find where the music could be in the files, but to no avail.

In the long run, though, I just prefer to have it as a set on my pc so I don't gotta dig out the disk if I happen to be in the mood for listening to the original vgm and let it repeat however long I wish it to. Not to mention damaging the disk and disk wear and tear by tossing it into the drive just for music.

While we are on the subject, does anyone know where I can find XA rips for Mega Man X4, Mega Man X6, or Battle & Chase? I found X5, but don't know where to find the others. Thanks.

Well, thanks to this program called AFS Explorer, I've gotten and tested the ADX streams from my Command Mission Disk, and will rip and create an ADX soundtrack to use with in_cube. It's really easy to use, FREE, and has a built in player to listen to music, sound effects, and voice.

It's pretty awesome that these files are only the size of my own mp3 collection of the same music, yet these have loop points to loop as many times as you want instead of the 1.25 loop the actual mp3s give. In_cube has no problem with these.

I have FLAC versions of X7, and seeing that the total size for X7's adx music was 114MB, that's 1/3 what my FLAC collection has with the same sound quality.

I'm still hoiping someone will please rip the music from X7 and upload it somewhere. I can name the song files myself, all one would need to do is get ASF Explorer, open the sound ASF file (or the ASF file in the disk's root directory, it seems), scroll down to the asf files, and select, then extract them to a folder.

Also, you can probably tell which files you don't need to extract by listening and looking at the first letter of the file. All the sound effects in MMX:CM are labeled like s010.adx, and all voice ones are labeled with v(some number).adx.

All the music files were located right with eachother in the list, so all I had to do was select them all, right click, and hit export and pick a place. Easy. And it only took 5 seconds to extract all the music.

Hope this helps anyone else wanting to try to find VG music on their PS2 disks that can't find out how, like me, no help from google until I read one thing out of 3 results that mentioned this program.

By the way, I think I read this will also work for getting your X4-6 music, marioman, since it says it plays the stream format I remember seeing on those disks, but I haven't tried it. I'll see if X6 works, since I still got it from my brother.

EDIT: Nice, I'm also going to rip the beta music for X8... all of it is included in the demo of X8 on the MMX:CM disk, even though you don't hear most of them. Now all I need is the X8 music itself to make a complete collection of that.

Thanks! If I name all this Command Mission music and stuff (and the X8 beta music), can I upload it to the "secret" archive here, or if there's one somewhere else? Otherwise, if anyone wants it when I'm done, I'll just use some uploader or something. In zip, it's 153Mb. Might figure out this 7z and how to compress better later, since I have a sue for that now.

Megaman X: Command Mission and Megaman X8 have been ripped for quite some time. Their files can be found here. Megaman X4-X6 use XA audio for their sound. They're all ripped, but only X5 is on HCS's site. I'm perfectly fine with you ripping your disks (it is after all ideal), especially since it helps save on HCS's bandwidth. I'm just pointing these out to you though, since they are after all available. I would have mentioned it sooner, but I've been offline for a few days. Mouser X over and out.

"Megaman X4-X6 use XA audio for their sound. They're all ripped, but only X5 is on HCS's site."

Where are X4 and X6 available for download? As I said before, I would also be interested in a XA rip for Battle & Chase if you know where one is.

Also, is there a way to extract the ADS files from the PSF2 rip of X7 that UF made? I would like to compare vgstream's sound quality with the HE output. Thanks.
