in_gbs.dll in Winamp? by TheUltimateKoopa at 8:43 PM EST on January 16, 2010
Does anyone know why in_gbs.dll simply, does not work in Winamp? (Or is it just me?) When ever I use it, and play a GBS, it seems to play about a small fraction of a second of the tune, repeatedly, going down in pitch, as if, like the power is turned off on a vacuum cleaner, the motor quickly decreases in pitch, pretty much the same kind of thing. I even uninstalled NEZPlug to make sure there weren't any conflicting plugins, but I still had this problem.
does it do this with all soundtracks? I don't remember having such problems with it back when i used it, though that was 5 years ago or more. it does have some major compatibility problems though, i know that much.
does it offer a specific advantage over nezplug? assuming you have the latest nezplug++, it should be redundant these days (original nezplug didn't have channel muting IIRC.)
Apart from the channel muting, and example, would be that in ANY of the Donkey Kong Land series and Donkey Kong Country GBS rips, the PCM (or whatever it's called) channel seems to hold the notes. That is, for example, the "Jungle" theme should have the bass line go like "dum dum.... dum dum...." etc, but it goes like "duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummm", i.e. there's no rests between notes.
I have version 0.9.4.8 -- that's the latest version I can find, (even though it was released over 7 years ago in November 2002).
This is what happens when I listen to the Jungle theme from DKL for example with NEZPlug: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYfCt2rWyqw
And this is what it SHOULD sound like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCmw1Lc06a4
I've had this problem for possibly 3 or more years with NEZPlug. in_gbs.dll used to work perfectly, but somehow it doesn't work at all. At least when I last tried it, it didn't.
