I don't think it's the same version either... but it's the same song at least.
That second nsf plays for me in foobar2000... it sounds like the song apart from a bit of weirdness at the beginning before the song starts... is that what you mean by it being busted?
What version of foobar2k are you using? I have 0.8.3 installed. I just downloaded and tried out 0.9.4.3 (along with the necessary components for NSF playback). In both of them, it still sounds broken. Not only is the intro messed up, but so is the whole thing. The notes are wrong (almost as if the notes, not the song, are being played backwards). It certainly doesn't sound like what I'd expect it to, even after the intro part. Maybe I need to change the settings somehow? Maybe I need to compare the video side-by-side with the NSF? Either way, I don't have time for either of those this morning. I just noticed the time, and I must be leaving now.
Anyway, I don't see/hear how that files not broken. It sounds wrong all the way through. If it sounds right to you, I'd like to know what it sounds like, or how you got it there. Anyway, gotta go. Mouser X over and out.
Thanks Poke. The second link is the same, broken NSF. I tried to comment at VORC, but they seem to have problems with their comments system. I am not sure how to contact Tony Thai, but if someone can get in touch with him, it would be a great help.
I could rip it to mp3/ogg I guess, but it sounds like the song. But I can sort of see what you mean the notes are off... I just thought you meant that the file didn't work at all when you said it was broken...
I agree, you can tell, more or less, what song it's supposed to be. However, it sounds almost nothing like the one used in the video. Similar, yes, but only barely. It's like apples and oranges. They both grow on trees, and they're both spherical, more or less. They taste different though, and have very little in common overall. The way it was portrayed to me, is that the similarities should have been *at least* as close as the "hare_hare" NSF, and the "Hare hare" video. This is not the case for the NSF and video of Lucky Star. And I find that disappointing.
Oh well. Thanks again for your efforts though. Mouser X over and out.
I think the NSF is supposed to play that way. Compare the song to the real opening. The NSF tries to sound similar to the actual voices (especially the pre-song speech). Best played in NotSoFatso.
I am beginning to wonder the same thing. The VORC article said that the NSF was supposed to be the same one that was used to make the video, but I am not sure. I have tried NotSoFatso, but it still isn't close to the video's music.
--EDIT--
Could it be that there is more than one video on YouTube that uses a NES version of the Lucky Star theme? That would make sense why the NSF does not sound right.
--EDIT #2--
Uh oh...

I guess we're back to looking for the NSF that was used in the Mega Man video. (I would REALLY like to have it. The other one is not that great.)
