- ^ And what are the missing songs exactly? As far as I know, some of them are only available as SFX: Final Smashes (Luigi, Dedede, Peach, DK, etc.), Invincibility, Hammer, and others. They all might be available at the .bsar file.
And question, did you normalize every song?

- The "missing songs" are those revealed in file structure text on the game disc, but not actually on the disc. Everything in the bsar file are considered SFX, not BGM.
I didn't do dynamic compression, but I did turn up the volume a little bit for the songs that didn't peak at just below 0db like a lot of the others did. It gives just a bit more consistency in volume to such an eclectic mix.

- ^ O.K., I did not understand that one. First of all, if those songs are supposedly missing, does it mean that we cannot hear it in the game itself? Second, file structure text? What's that?
- by hcs at 5:44 PM EST on February 29, 2008
- First: yes, they're not actually in the game, but the names of the songs were mentioned, so he just picked a copy of that song
Second: the .brsar has names for every sound in the game. This includes the BGM streams that are external to the .brsar (in the .brstm files), sound effects that are extracted by that brsar unpacker I wrote, and sequenced music. Since all these have names we can tell somewhat what they were supposed to be, even if they weren't included in the game. There are many for which there is a name but no data.

- I had the opportunity to listen to the SSBB WIP MP3s today. Not bad. However, I'll come out and say it since I know you're thinking I'll say it anyway: They should be looped twice... Since I'm well aware that you don't plan on doing that, I'll point out the song that I *REALLY* want you to loop twice, and the two others that I'd really like you to loop twice.
The one from Link's Awakening, Ballad of the Windfish. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE loop this at least twice. I felt dreadfully disappointed to hear it go by so quickly.
The other two would be the Stunt Race FX song (Orchestrated? That was unexpected.), and "Y19 Strolling The Mines (Donkey Kong Country {!}.wav.mp3" The first time I heard this, it sounded remarkably similar to an OC ReMix I have.
Another I'd like looped twice would be "S01 Main Theme (Sons of Liberty) {!}.wav.mp3" However, that'd be icing on the cake more than anything. In other words, it'd be appreciated, but it's the 3 I mentioned above that I would really like (as opposed to just "like").
Overall, I enjoyed it. Again, I was disappointed that it's not looped twice. However, I can understand why to some degree (time constraints - getting it out when SSBB releases in the states), which is why I'm singling out only 4 specific songs.
Again, nice job. Thanks for the work you've put in. It's pretty good so far, and I look forward to the final release (and I *REALLY REALLY REALLY* hope that Ballad of the Windfish is looped twice). Since I can tell it sounds like complaining, I'll clarify. It is. Think of a child who gets all pouty when they're told they can't have ice cream as the ice cream truck drives slowly by. Nonetheless, you've done a good job. Feel free to ignore my complaints (but please don't ignore my requests!). You've already put in a lot of work, and if the WIP is any indication, the end result is looking very promising. Mouser X over and out.

- Thank you Mouser X for being so polite. I think Stunt Race FX (known as "Wild Tracks" in Japan, I was pleased to make this discovery for the song tag that had baffled everybody else as well as find an orchestral version in the Game Music Concert series), Strolling The Mines, and the Metal Gear Solid Main Theme feel complete on their own, and don't require a loop. However, I will respect your request for a loop for Ballad of the Wind Fish. This arrangement was discovered on a Japanese forum by somebody, with the false claim that it was from Brawl (I added the original Game Boy notes as the intro). I remember thinking that went by in an instant when I first heard it too, and played it like two more times, gradually deciding that whatever the source, it was the best arrangement I've heard of the song. So anyway, I'll find a way to loop it and keep the ending intact.
Also, does anybody like "A11 Vs Cackletta's True Form" or "G06 Great Leader, Fox McCloud"? I got some other recommendations, and I'm set to replace those with "Thwomp Volcano" and "The Loner, Falco Lombardi", thinking those songs probably had a better chance of being what the developers had in mind.

- Stunt Race FX arrangement? I am very confused.
Is there some place to get these so-say missing songs separate. If they're not in the game, where do they come from and how are they relevant?

- Quoting hcs: "the .brsar has names for every sound in the game. Since all these have names we can tell somewhat what they were supposed to be, even if they weren't included in the game. There are many for which there is a name but no data."
I'm going to release the missing songs in a separate pack. The current link is just for feedback.

- I realized that the brsar's Melee W section points specifically to the numbering system of the Melee Sound Test: For example, Hyrule Temple is listed as "snd_bgm_W24_DX06". In the Melee sound test, Hyrule Temple is track number 06. So there's a "snd_bgm_W32_DX81", but the Sound Test only goes up to 79. I know from the hps music rip that there are songs that aren't available in the sound test, though I want to figure out specifically which one Brawl is referring to. Does anybody have the Melee ISO? It may hide a similar labeling system as the Brawl brsar. It could even reveal songs that were cut from that game as well!

- I think that the MGS Main Theme should start at around 0:39. Smash Bros' music is pretty straightforward and the beginning is a bit out of place for a fight.
Just a suggestion... Good work!
