- Passwords sound like a good idea and I say that as someone who might not even be given a password, considering I haven't been here long and don't really have anything to contribute personally.
An alternative is just to refrain from ever mentioning the bonus folder's existence in this forum and leave it up those of us who already know about it to check on it from time to time to see if anything new is there. If anyone new stumbles across this forum and asks about where to find streaming audio, we just... direct them somewhere else. Might not be as effective as passwords, but it might at least reduce the number of newcomers.

- No, the problem is that there are lurkers on this board. As soon as someone posts the SSBB files, the link will be mass-posted and the server will be down for a day, and they'll complain about the server being down while disregarding the fact that they're the fuckwads who took it down in the first place.
crediar, on the other hand, had a better solution to this mess. Too many people were linking to a file on his server (that contained the list of files on the SSBB disc) and the clever minds on IRC got him to redirect a bunch of idiots to shock images. And oh god were these people idiots, thinking that someone actively involved in the Wii hacking scene with absolutely no connection to Nintendo or affiliates had obtained the SOURCE CODE FOR SSBB, when he just pulled a list of files off a DVD.
No wonder SSB fans always change the rules to make the game boring: they're fucking idiots.

- Seeing as newcomers are the ones making suggestions, I find this discussion very amusing.
It's not broken yet, so I doubt that anything will be done. There has been discussion about this for years, and nothing else seems to work. The only thing that may work is an external host of some sort that would be willing to be leached. However, I would think that the traffic would be such that it wouldn't last that long.
Let's just remain hush-hush about the issue and not mention it again shall we?

- I think the best thing to do is keep the bonus folder for "trusted" members that have lurked around here for years, and also those that can actually use unplayable files to reverse engineer players for them, etc.
Then periodically put torrents online...
But as previously mentioned, this has been discussed and discussed and nothing really changes.
One solution was to webseed a torrent, but it's problematic getting webseeds to play nice with servage hosting...

- Incomplete track list with official titles from the sound test. I'm doing more when I'm in the mood for more translations.

- The easiest way to settle this, of course, is to just leave the very busy torrent.

- So apparently, the 40ish missing tracks from the SSBB OST is in a 99.2MB called "smashbros_sound.brsar" Here's a list of all the audio files within this file http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=990274&postcount=2266 & a list of the tracks "missing" from the normal OST from the game http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=990335&postcount=2272
Here's the BRSAR file from SSBB

- snd_bgm_Z09_FLUIGI (Luigi's Victory Theme)
^ is this actually a different track (that is, does Luigi actually have a different victory theme?) if not I expect that these are just duplicates.
snd_bgm_Y06_ADV06 (Missing Subspace Emissary music)
^ this (and others in Y and X) are likely sequenced.
Many of the missing streams are probably simply unused and thus were removed from the shipping version.
I'm going to take a look out of curiosity, anyway.

- Luigi's victory theme in the final version is the same as Mario's, Peach's, and Bowser's.
The only thing backing up the idea that this list indicates that every character had their own unique victory fanfares (as opposed to everyone from the same series sharing one) is that the final version of the game does have a different victory fanfare for Meta Knight than for Kirby & Dedede, despite his coming from the same series. MAYBE that's evidence that the same special treatment was originally planned for every character. There are definately other cases where it would be appropriate; namely Bowser and Ganondorf sharing the same heroic-sounding victory fanfares with Mario and Link.
