bxaimc, a question: what's the proper way to play all those ATRAC3Plus files? There must be a way, since you're tagged RR7 set, but I'm rather behind the curve on this topic.

Well, since ATRAC3plus files have RIFF headers (most, not all), you need a wav extractor, but there are times that if you use a plain ol' wav extractor, you might be skipping over another header the file possibly might have. If you want to listen to PS3 ATRAC3plus you need Sony Sound Forge (I use 10, Full version). But before that you need to convert the RIFF header into an OMA/AA3 (OpenMG Audio stuffs) header for it to be recognized by it. The sonic stage decoder won't work with PS3 ATRAC3plus for some unknown reason (maybe this AT3+ is a newer type? or maybe the new SS release will fix that?). Another issue is that Sound Forge doesn't install a directshow filter that, of course, lets you listen to PSP ATRAC3plus (after converting its header first). Unfortunately the HiMD Renderer doesn't like PS3 ATRAC3plus so slapping an OMA/AA3 header would be difficult if you don't know what you're doing. Ridge Racer 7 is even worse because not only is it PS3 ATRAC3plus, it's also multichannel (6 channels). I also noticed that PSP ATRAC3plus is sampled @ 44khz while PS3 ATRAC3plus has 48khz. Dunno if I answered you question....did I? :P

are there any plans to update the "online database" at manakoAT's sub-site?
by bxaimc at 8:59 PM EDT on October 18, 2010
It's a lot of work so please be patient ^^;

no worries, I was just curious if it was an abandoned project or what. I thought it might be something you could update with the DAT files pretty easily, but I know absolutely nothing about database design (especially in terms of web interfaces). This is generally a slow, quiet community so there's no real rush.

Yea, he's a bit behind since we've been ripping like crazy over the past few months.

How are POS files created for looping PCM?
by bxaimc at 7:22 AM EDT on October 19, 2010
POS files are just 8 byte (Little Endian) files containing 4 bytes for a loop start and 4 bytes for a loop end. They're only for wav.

Thanks, it works! Too bad the Final Fantasy XIII OST isn't designed for looping (using the streams' loop points).

@bxaimc: Let me put it more clearly. I have your Ridge Racer 7 rip. I want to play it. What do I do?
