Wow, the Xbox 360 has higher quality audio. I laugh (with disappointment).

You'd think they would be using lpcm or even dts,ac3 by now with all that BR space on those game discs for the ps3 and the xbox360.

Most people who paid big on those systems have good Sound Speaker setups, It is VERY DISAPPOINTING that many still using xma, 128kbps mp3s and oggs.. I guess it comes down to money and they give music

I'd say it's more about processing power.

MP3 doesn't take that much to be decoded on the PS3 and Xbox 360 has hardware dedicated to XMA.

Using MP3 in a game requires a license (IIRC)

Yes, it's not free. Vorbis is free however.
Funny....FFXIII-2 (360) can ONLY be played with vgmstream (appart from the game...duhh). :)

It's encrypted ;)

The peak of streaming audio fidelity in games was the TurboGrafx-CD. Ironic, and sad.

Gotta wonder though, would the 360 or PS3 really not be able to handle 192kbps MP3 at least or something similar? Small bitrate increases above 128 still produce often noticeable results up to about 192. I guess the developers know and probably made their decision for a reason.

Haha, imagine how much worse the slowdowns in Skyrim on the 360 would be if they actually used good quality audio. :P They needed every spare kilobit they could get.

Here's something to bitch about:

Final Fantasy XIII Trial had MP3 @ 160kbps
by SmartOne at 11:56 PM EST on February 5, 2012
You rip music from games and criticize people who care about audio quality?

That doesn't make sense.

I think his point was that the final release actually got nerfed compared to the demo, SmartOne.
