A bad excuse to bring some activity to the thread perhaps, but does anyone know the source of this vocal sample? It's been haunting me for years. I'm thinking it could be in Complete Celt by AMG, but I haven't found any place to download or even buy it for all these years, and I didn't hear it in any of the demos (only somewhat similar vocals).

Any help would be appreciated.

I noticed recently that the choir sound in Super Mario 64 doesn't sound exactly like, but sounds very similar to the Lite Voice patch in Korg Wavestation. I also noticed some similar, but not exact, patches in Korg M1. Someone said something about it being made by something called Sonido Media but I still don't (and probably can't) have any info on it at the moment.

I'm also interested as to where the sounds for the sitar used in the same game and the steel drums used in Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam come from personally.

@Nisto

I think it's in the EWQL Voices of Passion.
Troels Formann, the composer of Tomb Raider Legends, used EWQL a lot in his Tomb Raider compositions, and even has a demo track on the EWQL website! The demo doesn't have the sample you're asking, but the whole VST has many samples similar to the one you're looking for.

Here's an interview in which he talks about his Tomb Raider soundtrack.

Here's Voices of Passion

Considering the interview is on CDM's website, it may also be one of their products though.

Anyone know of Shogo Sakai's VST use in SSBB? Specifically his remix of Pokemon DP's "Route 209"?

@alexnaveira

Well, he told me also that when making Brawl he lost access to his SC-8850. (Which is why several tracks from Melee sound so different in Brawl)

He didn't tell me exactly what he used, though. Try snooping around Roland though, that should give you some good leads.

by the time of Mother 3, he had either a JV or XV series module, due to distinct JV series sounds in that game.

I'd say look through JV, XV and the JV80 cards and SRX cards to start.

There could be some Proteus stuff in there, I don't know.

I just noticed something. In Spyro the Dragon, Stone Hill starts with the same sample that Last End from Majora's Mask uses. It got me very excited for a second.

Actually, if someone could find out what Stewart Copeland used in his Spyro soundtrack(s), that'd be fantastic.

I was just looking actually. Some of these look familiar to me.

From the Spyro Wikia:
"Stewart Copeland used a Kurzweil K2500x keyboard (with orchestral and contemporary ROMs), and Spectrasonics CD ROMs like Distorted Reality 1 & 2, Heart of Africa, etc."

In this song, I hear the timpanis and distortion guitar from 4th and 5th Gen Pokemon games. Also one of the organs from Mario Kart 64.

This is my first time listening to the Spyro OST so I'm just now finding stuff out.
