I think it's a bad idea to downmix all channels in one go. The game mixes additional channels into the stream depending on the current level building progress - I would call it "flow music". You don't get that impression when having them downmixed.

I know which channels are used, are random, but does the amount of 'stuff' in the level determine how many channels are played?

- Isn't it? Haven't played it yet unfortunately, but in the youtube videos you can observe to have a progression with having more items available and being longer in stage.

- Hmm, what about a rip with surround sound? Or is it just 2 channels with other "flow" parts inserted in their own channels? Could we splice the other channels out into their own songs?
