Big Problem Trying to Run USFs thru Winamp by oldschoolrocker at 12:56 AM EST on November 17, 2006
So yeah I have 3 USF sets being Super Mario 64, Mischief Makers, and F-Zero X. The problem is I have the latest version of 64th Note installed and have Winamp v5.2 and I can't even open the MiniUSF files or the USFlib file in Winamp. The MiniUSFs and USFlibs for each of the sets I have are in the same folder I just don't know what's wrong and how to fix it or what else I can do to get them to play... Could someone come up with something for me? That would be awesome!

If you just drag the miniUSF files into winamp does that work?

Go into the preferences for 64th Note, check the "Display Errors" box, and then try again. If an error message comes up, let us know what it is.

No I haven't drug the miniusf files into Winamp. THey're in another folder altogether. I don't think turning on the error display thing will help. When I try to open the folder thru Winamp using File when rightclicking on the Winamp thing in the task bar it doesn't show any of the miniusf files or the usflib file either.

Oh OK, I misunderstood the question. Sorry.

So, you have a Winamp issue. (Not 64th Note.) I am not sure exactly how the Media Library in Winamp works, but I will take a guess what your problem is.

It sounds like the library is not recognizing miniusfs as a valid music file. Why? I do not know.

As hcs said, start Winamp, open the folder where you have your miniusfs/USFlib, and drag and drop one of the miniusfs onto Winamp. (Somewhere in the pane where the Play button is. Just avoid the little visualization window.) The file should begin to play. If this doesn't work, then more investigation needs to be done.

Hope that this helps.

Ah and here I thought it was something I was doing... I'll try draging my files into WInamp and see what that does. Thanks!

I just finished drag/drop all the files I have for the Super Mario 64 set. It works! Finally!!!

Good! I am glad that it worked. So the problem is a file association thing with Winamp. I do not know how to fix it (maybe someone else here does), but I would recommend that you look at the Winamp boards and see if you can find a solution there.

Yeah dragging and dropping is kinda a pain. Seeing as the Winamp plugin section was how I found this place I bet it would be helpful in figuring out what exactly the problem is. Funny USFs are the only game soundtrack files that WInamp couldn't open. The other ones I have are NSF and the format for Dreamcast (just for Skies of Arcadia) and Winamp has no quams about opening them using the method of opening files by rightclicking on the WInamp thing in the taskbar...

The problem is that you have too many plugins, and Winamp's file selection box can only display so many "supported" file types. This is a Windows limitation.
