Trying to play USF by AllenSword at 9:23 AM EDT on June 17, 2007
I downloaded the 64th Note plugin from Winamp and then tried running the MINIUSF files after I extracted them, but they wouldn't play. So later on, I came to this site and downloaded 1.2 beta 3 binary and did what it said in the forums for binary. So i tried it again and still nothing happens. Basically, the file name is on there but when I hit play, it stops immediately. The winamp program's still open, but the song won't play. I noticed someone said in the forums they were missing a file to play. It was in the Help on USF topic. If anyone can help me please.

You need *both* MINIUSF and USFLIB extracted in the same place for playing.

They are all extracted but they still won't play.

Speaking of USFs, Is there a rip of San Francisco Rush that can be found anywhere?

San Franciso Rush? (not 2049!)

Nope, still waiting on it.

So does anyone know what is goin on with this thing? Hold on I just realized the Winamp Plugin wouldn't install in the right file. I think that might be the problem...so far.

Does the N64 have individual channel muting much like the NES or Gameboy? If so It would be something that would be good to see in the next version (if there is one) of the 64th Note plugin for Winamp.

Channel muting isn't possible from the plugin (64th Note) level. If channel muting were to be done, you'd have to do it much lower than that. As in, at the time that the USF was ripped, is when you'd have to mute the channels. The SNES had 8 channels, which is why SNESamp can mute them. The N64 does music playback mostly through software (similar to the PSX). In other words, it doesn't use channels. It's mixed in the software.

So, your request is an impossibility, unless someone gets a generic driver working (like what Mark Grass has done for the PSX). HCS already tried to make a generic driver, but it only worked for some games, and not for others. Basically, it wasn't reliable enough. Mouser X out.

64th Note is still a great plugin anyway.
